I purchased this item with not the highest expectations. Basically I wanted to get my brother a cool travel alarm clock with some kind of new technology. I figured if there was any kind of voice activation feature, great, but really I just wanted to get him something cheap and interesting and this seemed to be a good fit.

First thing I noticed: it's a lot tinier than I expected! Fits in the palm of your hand.
Second: as long as you speak clearly, the voice activation works great and is very intuitive! I even heard him moan 'shut off' one morning when it went off and even though I thought he was barely legible, it worked.

He's extremely happy with the present, and I am too.

PS- the alarm sounds are, um, interesting (read: bizarre choices), but certainly effective. I like the bells.

While it's something of an improvement over ealier Palm phones, the Tungsten W is not yet the ideal phone/PDA replacement.

This is a nice PDA and a just OK phone. I was hoping Palm would do better with this. At the very least they should have included a Mic/Speaker so I don't have to grab the headset everytime a call comes in.

I wouldn't have spent my own money on this thing, I would have probably gone for the Blackberry.

Since I'm already an AT&T customer, I can switch my SIM card from the Palm TW to my phone when I need a real phone. I'd prefer something more seamless; perhaps having the W only receive calls when my cell phone is off.

Palm Tungsten W Review by

It's a good PDA, but not as good as the Tungsten/T & not good for wireless phone, especially with the SMS features.
These are following cons that I encountered with Tungsten/W:
1) You cannot delete the call history.
2) You have to delete the SMS outbox and inbox messages one by one.
3) You cannot send the SMS messages to a group of contacts, you have to do it one by one.
4) It's very difficult to write a SMS messages using the qwerty keypad.
5) It is not a MMS ready and cannot play polyphonic ringing tones.
6) There is no time indication in the SMS messages inbox.
7) You cannot answer the phone without the earpiece.
8) You have to charge it everyday, the talk time & standby time is not long as what the manufacturer claims.
9) Doesn't have a bluetooth & speakerphone.
I hope Palm Inc. will do something about this or else they won't get a bigger share in the PDA Phone market.

I bought it yesterday and have returned it today!
All features other than the integrated gsm phone/ wireless service are same as the earlier model Tungsten "T". So presumably one would pay the extra buck for the advantage of having a phone/pda combo. Right? Unfortunately the ONLY service provider with which it can work with is AT&T. As per the words of a Palm tech rep., "This is a SIM lock device"! Meaning that the only SIM card that would work is the one that is provided in the box by AT&T. It is not like a normal tri band GSM phone in which you can put in a SIM card from any wireless service provider and you can use it in the coverage areas of your service provider. So only two group of people can use this deivce. Fristly, those who do not want to use it as a phone and only want to use it as a PDA. To them I would say why dont you get a nicer PDA like something from Sony, or HP, or the Palm Tungsten T. And secondly those people who are willing to subscribe to the AT&T serivce plan. I dont live in US and have never been a coustomer with AT&T, however I know firstly that limiting a deivce to only one service provider is purely logic deprived, in general for all users and particularly for users who travel abroad and want to use SIM cards from local serivce providers. And the other fact is that the reviews on AT&T wireless service are far from satisfactory. So in short this Tungsten model has no advantage over the Tungsten T. As a PDA it may be good. But then why pay the extra $$$$ for having a phone/pda combination.

Our bathroom is too small and damp to hang towels. We throw ours on a laundry rack in the laundry room, but we have guests. This rack is great. It is big enough for a enough space for bath towels yet takes up very little space. It was so easy to put together - no tools needed and simple. Would recommend highly - good product, great price, and easy to assemble.

Easy to assemble and sturdy. The best part is that there is sufficient room between the bars to easily hang heavy, large beach towels on each of them. My previous towel rack was lucite, finally bit the dust, but the hanging bars were too close together and it was more difficult to use them.

The Duxtop 1800-Watt Portable Sensor Touch Induction Cooktop 8300ST v.2011 has become the only burner I use...
I bought this to replace my Breville electric wok, which, although great for stir-frying, died (ruptured heating element) after only 2 years of service. I had become very attached to the excellent heat-producing capacity of that wok, but want to stay away from non-stick surfaces in future cookware for health reasons..

After much research, (and a *miserable* purchase of a Sunbeam stainless steel wok which amounted to little more than a warm salad bowl on legs) I decided to take the plunge and go for this induction unit used in tandem with my trusty old carbon steel wok.

The heat performance for stir-fry has been as good as the Breville, but combined with the wok-hei flavor of the old wok, and being able to heat the wok to smoking without fear of toxic fumes, the overall wok-cooking pleasure of this combination is even higher than the Breville. Additionally, it provides FAST boiling of water..Generally, 2 quarts of water will boil in 2-3 minutes, as opposed to 10-15 minutes on my electric stove...

It has been wonderful this summer to heat coffee/pasta water and never have to worry about heating up the house with residual heat from the burner, since induction cooking produces no residual heat once the unit is turned off. We also bring it outside to deep-fry fish to keep the smell from permeating the house. It does an admirable job at wok deep-frying, and maintains a very constant temperature...Our trout, pompano and red snapper all develop a crispy, crunchy exterior and maintain a moist, juicy interior with minimal-to-no tending, so long as the unit is set to 1200 watts.

My only qualms about the unit are basically just nit-picky ones. First, when the unit is plugged in (as it is permanently in my home) the power panel flashes a row of horizontal dashes that look disconcertingly like an error code. Maybe the idea is to remind you to unplug it, but since my outlet is in an inconvenient location, and this is my permanent cooking surface, it just sits there flashing 24/7, and using unnecessary electricity.

Second, when things overflow, such as pasta is inclined to, and the water gets onto the smooth-top glass surface, the cook is NOT able to shut off or adjust temperature/wattage of the unit using the touch pad, as the water must somehow interfere with the touch pad's electrical response. Therefore, in order to stop the disaster, you must either unplug the unit, or remove the messy pot, wipe up the spill, then adjust temp/wattage/turn it off. Not a big deal if you have the presence of mind and a place to quickly move the boiling pot to, but in a panicky spill situation, it can throw you for a loop...

Third, and this is really no big deal, the unit's cooling fan makes a sound very similar to that produced by a microwave oven while cooking, and for around 1 minute afterwards...Combined with the exhaust fan and all the action in the pan, the overall decibel-level can be perhaps more lively than some noise sensitive people would prefer. Again, the sound is not really that bad, and sounds just like a microwave, but it is something to know.

These small things aside, the Duxtop induction cooktop has revolutionized my kitchen.. I now eschew my 4 burner stove, even for multi-dish meals, in favor of the Duxtop, knowing that I can heat the pan basically instantaneously for stir-fry, cook the main dish, then switch pans and make boiling hot soup in the *same time or less* than simply heating water on my regular electric stove..

This is a wonderful appliance. Convenient, affordable, versitile and low-profile. I am very grateful to have discovered it...

This unit continues to amaze with its ability to stir-fry, deep-fry, and heat large pots of soup quickly, but for pancake/griddle type applications, it is frustrating. The 4" diameter induction area heats a cast iron griddle quickly in the center, but leaves a very cool area toward the edges of the pan. Pancakes cook unevenly, and omlettes are impossible...For even griddle cooking, even a cast iron griddle on my electric range does a better job...Still-this is a fantastic choice for most other types of stove-top cooking...

Delivered quickly and was well-packaged. The cooking element diameter is approximately 7 3/4". The sensor touch controls work very well but the settings can be accidentally changed by unintentionally touching the glass top areas over the control panel unless you use the "lock" feature which locks the controls except the on/off touch button. The cooking element heats very quickly but the unit only works with induction compatible (ie. magnetic) cookware. You can cook using wattage or temperature settings combined with a timer feature that shuts off the cooktop at the end of the preset cooking time. Cooking using the adjustable wattage control seems to work better than using the temperature control option. The unit boils water quickly and sears burgers and steaks as well or better than the smooth top stove I have. Since the unit heats the cookware internally by an electromagnetic current the glass cooktop only gets hot where it contacts the cookware and heat is transferred from the cookware to the cooktop. However, this is not nearly as hot and dissipates much more quickly than conduction cooking on a smooth top stove and makes for a much easier cleaning experience because food does not burn onto the cooktop. When cooking the cooktop emits an electical whining/buzzing sound that will annoy some people but this sound is partially obscured by the cooling fan which also runs while cooking. The glass cooktop sits on top of a somewhat flimsy plastic housing that contains the internal components but it seems otherwise well-made. The unit has a very thick permanently attached electrical cord which plugs into a standard wall outlet. The unit's instruction manual states that it should be used only on a dedicated outlet(ie. by itself) because of the electrical current draw of the unit. The unit has functioned well for the month that I've had it. I do wish the cooking element's diameter was a little larger but gently preheating cast iron or decent magnetic cookware on a medium-low setting (not too long without food) and cooking on a medium setting allows you to decently sear larger quantities of meats pretty uniformly using 10 or 11 inch diameter pans. The instruction manual cautions not to operate it with empty cookware but I think it means not to blast away preheating an empty unattended pan on high until it damages the unit or the cookware. That's my practical view and not my legal opinion. A good buy if it turns out to be durable.

I own a restaurant and need a lot of hot water to serve freshly cooked pasta. Back in 2005 we bought a few induction burners. They were not for commercial use but they all did very good job until the buttons were worn out after extensive use. The commercial grade induction burners are very expensive, it was way above what I could afford by then. We got 2 new duxtop 8300 a few months ago, with new technology these cooktops becomes better cooks faster. The control panel is under the crystal/glass panel and supposed to last forever as long as you do not break the glass. And it is much easier to clean. We are very satisfied with this burner. Btw, we ordered another 20 units to replace all our burners.

This desk is absolutely perfect for my needs. The "left side" perfectly houses my 24" widescreen "main" monitor for my gaming rig, while the "right side" houses 2x20" 4:3 monitors that are hooked up dual screen to my work machine, and single screen on my Linux and BSD boxes respectfully, using the secondary inputs on the monitors.

The section in the picture where the portable PC cart is sitting has plenty of space for ALL of the above mentioned computers, as well as my UPS with plenty of breathing room and room for cables, the KVM, dongles and whatnot.

The back panels are nice for cable management, but could be better. Its nice to have something to corral them back under the desk, but you can still see them above and below the piece.

I left the keyboard tray off of mine, as I absolutely HATE keyboard trays, there is plenty of room on the desktop surface for all the monitors, corresponding keyboards and mice (I have a keyboard and gaming mouse on the left machine, and a KVM solution using 1 keyboard and mouse across all 3 additional computers on the right), as well as workspace. I use the little "printer" shelf to hold an awesome WBM 8-Inch Himalayan Natural Crystal Salt Lamp with Bulb and Cord. Looks fantastic there, and gives the room a nice amber hue (as well as keeping the cigarette odor to a minimum in the office.)

Build time took around 45 minutes for my girlfriend and I (she mostly held parts in place while I tightened them down) one night after work, and we had no issues with bad parts, misaligned parts, etc. Fantastic.

All in all, this desk is exactly what I was looking for, and worked out great for what I needed. I had been looking for a desk for over a year that would not only handle all my needs for a desk, but would also be UNDER $300-500. I would happily recommend this desk to ANYONE with multiple computers, or necessitating a large workspace.

Well so far I have been very dissappointed. I thought purchasing a more expensive steamer would mean higher quality. It started working good at first. It steamed several outfits and dresses just fine. Then it started intermittently steaming. It would work for a minute then stop for a minute. Then it would work for 30 seconds, then stop steaming for 45 seconds. It was very frustrating. I found if I held the hose straight up it would steam pretty well, but I was constantly messing with the hose and wearing myself out trying to get the steam out. I'm not a patient enought person for this particular steamer. My water was full and we do not have hard water so there is no reason the steamer should make fairly consistant steam. It does say in the manuel that it is common to have the steam stop and start. I just don't have enough time to wait around for the steamer to work. I will try one more time to see if It is just having a hard day, but if it still does not seem to work any better then 20-40% of the time I will send it back and try to order a better model. If anyone knows of a good one let me know.

I have steam-ironed about 10 items.

Pros:
Good amount of steam. That is the main feature. Your iron holds one cup of water but this hold about one gallon, so it can be generous with steam.

Cons:
The contraption to hold your clothes does not work easily. So you end up spending as much time fudging with it as you would spend time re-positioning your garment with a regular iron. The bottom pins move horizontally and cannot stay in spot. If you want to iron a shirt you need to collapse the extended pole and bend/squat to iron, because the bottom rack does not move up, you have to lower the top portion.

Perhaps if you come up with a set of home-invented gadgets to hold your garment in place you can use the product effectively. The product has potential if they redesign and add such gadgets. It is a bit hard to explain so it is best to see the product in a big store and pretend to iron a shirt and a pant there to see the issues.

It is very good for getting wrinkles from linens and such. However do not expect it iron the top of a pant. It is just good for the leg portion, you cannot do fine
ironing and such with this one. It is still good to make your clothes acceptable looking.

Super Green won't kill the plant , it is a vitamin or fertilizer for the plant . A lot of big Markets are selling Super Green ,too. There should be some other reason that caused the Lucky Bamboo yellow. Maybe the Weather is cold , the temperature in the room is too low. I like it , I put them in my Lucky Bamboo ,Money Tree and ZZ Plants, they work good.

It was fun to build - a blast from my tinker toy past.
It fit in two tiers above my kitchen cupboards. So much nicer looking than fake green plants up there.
The shipment arrived very quickly; the packaging was excellent and the directions a breeze.
Highly recommend these for people who are looking for a flexible system of wine storage.

Based on the overwhelmingly high product reviews this wine rack has on Amazon, I bought it with the anticipation of a quality product. When I attempted to assemble the kit, however, I discovered that the supplied hardware is insufficient to complete the job.

The instructions for assembly indicate that each peg should provide a "friction fit" during assembly, and that if any peg doesn't provide such a fit, to discard it and use another, since enough extras are provided to allow for some defective pegs. I discovered that about one in three or one in four of the pegs could provide a friction fit (not a tight friction fit, but just a friction fit). The remaining pegs turn loosely in the holes, and fall out if the "octobar" into which it is driven (yes, with a hammer) is upended. After a while, I began suspecting that maybe it wasn't just the pegs, but perhaps some of the holes were overlarge. So I started hunting through multiple holes looking for a tight fit, and rotating the bars to try to locate the wider holes towards the outside of the rack, where they wouldn't be used. Still, some pegs were so small that they wouldn't provide a friction fit in any hole, and some holes were so large that no peg could satisfy them.

All told, I was able to assemble slightly more than half of the octobars into two rows of openings, capable of holding some 20 bottles of wine. The box still contains a good number of octobars and a surprisingly high number of rejected pegs.

The instructions indicate, and I quote, that "Glue is usually unnecessary on J.K. Adams wine racks. Our pins are slightly oversized to produce a friction fit which is generally sufficient to insure a tight rack. In a dry environment, however, some wood joints may loosen. If this occurs, add a spot of glue." I'm located in southern California, where we're in the midst of our wettest winter in over a decade. In the last two weeks, our area has seen over 7" of rain (average yearly total = 3"). On the day I was assembling the rack, it was actually raining. So there is no way that I'm in "a dry environment."

I don't want to use glue to hold the remaining components together (and would not be confident in the structural strength thereby achieved - it would be like trying to glue a hot dog into the middle of a hallway). So, now I'm forced to decide whether to keep the 20-something bottle wine rack that I have (after paying for a 40-bottle rack) or deal with the hassle of disassembly and return shipment for a refund.

------ Update 3/11/2010 ------

I contacted customer service for JK Adams, and they were happy to send me out another bag of pins, which from the shipping label, they appear to have custom ordered a little larger than the standard pins. Using these extra, oversized pins, I was able to finish assembling the rack and use all of the 'octobars.' There are still a few less-than-solid connections in the rack, but hopefully nothing that causes the whole thing to come apart. Based on the experience, I'm upping my review to 3 stars, because the finished product is pretty good (four stars), and the customer service was helpful (five stars), but the hassle of receiving a defective product wasn't exactly great.
